Rob Norris - 1st captain, batsman
Embarks on his second spell as 1st XI captain in 2010 having first occupied the role in 2000 and 2001. Has now clocked up two decades at the club despite still only being 32. Right handed batsman who was among the teams most consistent performers in 2009 but couldn't manage a single half century. Will be looking to score more heavily in 2010.
Matt Talbot - 1st XI vice captain. Batsmen.
Former Storrington colts skipper, Matt also captained the 1st XI for three seasons from 2005 to 2007. Moved between the 1st and 2nd XI in 2008 but was a fixture in the 1st XI in 2009 and played some of his best ever cricket. Currently living back in Storrington so expect to see him rolling the square every day during his long summer holiday from his teaching job.
Adam Smith - 2nd XI captain. All rounder
Older brother of former 1st XI captain Paul Smith and has often lived in the cricketing shadow of his younger sibling. A popular choice as captain of the 2nd XI although some would suggest he should be pushing for a place in the 1st XI. Bowls and bats and will bring a calm and assured approach to captaining the clubs second string.
Chris Winter - Sunday XI captain. Batsman
Has overcome injury misery to extend his career beyond his 70th birthday and was sensationally appointed Sunday skipper for the 2010 season. An experienced and well travelled cricketer who has also served the club as treasurer and chairman. Famed at the club for his pink trousers and still shows more than a hint of the elegant batsman of yesteryear when at the crease.

Dan Le Roux - Right handed batsman
The 1st XIs main strike bowler in the 2003 Division 4 winning season and still holds the club record for league wickets in a season. Now recognised primarily as a batsman and was prolific between 2005 and 2007. Saved himself from his own rule that he'd quit if he ever had a season without a half century with a fifty late in the 2009 season and will be looking to return to heavy run scoring in 2010 but might be distracted by wedding plans.

Martin Fisher - Batsman
Sensationally announced himself on the scene at Storrington with a stunning 144 on debut for the 2nd XI in 2009. Needless to say he's never turned out for the 2nds again. Easily the clubs leading run scorer in 2009 despite missing a large chunk of the season and will be pivotal in any success the 1st XI hope to have in 2010. Also a reluctant left arm bowler who can expect to be called upon more with the ball than in his debut season. Previously played for Twickenham Cricket Club and it's clear to see he's played at a higher level than the West Sussex Invitation League.
Chris Hurst - All rounder
The only member of the John Davenport generation of Storrington colts who is currently turning out regularly for the club. Aggressive middle order batsmen who has also become a key member of the bowling attack. Player of the year in 2009 and continues to show good commitment by returning to play despite living and working in London during the week. Started 2010 with his arm in a sling and will miss the early part of the season. A swift return will be key to the Swans hopes for a good season in 2010.
Dan Pickard - All rounder
Part of the Pickard dynasty that mirrors the Haggart family influence on the club 20 years previous with brother Matt a former 2nd XI captain and father Phil the club chairman. Aggressive top order batsman and right arm medium pacer. Appearances were limited in 2009 but will hopefully turn out more in 2010. Likely to be a key man with the ball and also contribute regularly with the bat.
Mike Groves - All rounder
Didn't arrive at the club until the autumn of his career but after one season in the 2nd XI he became a fixture in the 1st XI in 2009. Bowls with steady, nagging accuracy and also capable with the bat. Away from cricket Mike runs a growing pizza empire so once a season tea consists of pizza and garlic bread.
Paul Woolley - All rounder
A useful addition to the 1st XI in 2009, the Mammoth's main attribute is his nagging and consistent line and length with the ball. Also chips in with a few runs from time to time. Fiance Emma will become Paul's wife in May so we'll lose him for a few weeks but hopefully marriage won't dampen her enthusiasm for the scorebook.
Graham Humphries - Batsman
Powerful hitting middle order batsman. Forced
to hang up the bowling boots due to back trouble. After a number of seasons as part of the furniture in the 1st XI middle order, Graham is now bringing some experience to the 2nd XI but still turns out from time to time for the 1st XI when middle order reinforcements are required.

Simon Furlonger - Wicketkeeper/ batsmen
More of an out and out keeper these days having returned as the 1st XI glove man in 2007 and rarely been called upon to make a significant contribution with the willow. Looking like making a move towards the Sunday XI in 2010. Famed at the club for his Richie Benaud impression. A true Storrington lad, has always lived in the village and is hoping to drag a few more years out of his body so he can one day turn out in the same team as his son Alfie.
Image:
Simon Haggart - all rounder
Former 1st XI skipper and opening batsman. Right handed bat, off break bowler and specialist slip catcher. Long serving member of the Swans and from a real SCC family. Brother Mark, cousin Dick and nephews Iain and Robert have all played for the club as well. Also a talented golfer and undoubtedly the clubs funny man. Ask him to tell you the "Some **** from Preston" joke.

Steve Watkins - Batsman/wicketkeeper
Swashbuckling shot a ball opening batsmen with an all out attack attitude. Remains arguably the fittest man in the club despite recently passing his 60th birthday. Many peoples Champagne moment of the 2007 season was when Steve stepped up to the 1st XI for the opening match of the season at Southwater and took four boundaries from the final over of the innings. Also a capable wicket keeper and work committments permitting will remain a key man in the 2nd XI in 2008.
Jamie Webber - Slow right arm bowler
A key member of the Brogdale Babes golden generation of Colts who came through in the late 80s and early 90s. Temporarily defected to Southwater a few years ago but now back where he belongs with the Swans. Has a handy habit of going through opposition batting orders when he deceives them with his juicy looking hand grenades.
Matt Pickard - Bowler
Steps down as 2nd XI captain for 2010 but remains as vice captain to support Adam Smith. The outstanding bowler for the 2nd XI in 2009 and deservedly player of the year. Capable of pushing for the 1st XI where his left arm seamers would provide some variety. Has a new look svelte figure having lost a lot of weight training for a half marathon.
Colin Harrison - All rounder
Longest serving of the current playing members, H has seen a lot of people come and go from the club and is Storrington through and through. Nagging left arm bowler and also a stubborn batsman. Also the clubs long suffering groundsman who has invested weeks of his life to maintaining the clubs pitches.
Nick Vinnicombe - All rounder
Once a young prospect of whom big things were expected, the V Man finally started to deliver the goods only for appearances to be limited by work. Career as a cabin steward has seen him live an International Man of Mystery lifestyle in recent years but now settled with girlfriend Siobhan and became a Dad in April 2010. Still shows good committment to make himself available whenever he can. Shares a birthday with fellow SCC members Rob Norris and Adam Smith and well known cricket follower Mick Jagger.

Mark Haggart - Wicketkeeper batsman
Appearances in league cricket have been few and far between in the last couple of years but new skipper Rob Norris is known to be a huge admirer of Mark's glovework and keen to have him back in the side as often as possible in 2010. Undoubtedly still the best wicketkeeper in the club and still has plenty to offer with the bat. Also useful to have around if anybody needs any sporting facts or trivia from the last 100 years.
Alex Barritt - Bowler
Unfortunately not available on a consistent basis due to his commitments as a pilot but possesses the knack of turning up once or twice a month and still putting the ball in the right places. Great stamina and rarely produces even the smallest bead of sweat despite often being asked to bowl marathon spells.
Image:
Will Whitehead
Wills addition to the 1st XI for the 2008/09 season provided the first person since Chris Rose to share the ginger abuse burden with Rob Norris. A tidy wicket keeper but has been utilised mainly as a specialist middle order batsman this season.
